Calling all SOBX Crystal Coast Hounds

I know you must be out there. My name is Joy, I live in the area part of the year and in the Triangle for the rest. I think it's time we have a discussion about favorites in the area. There are so many great restaurants in Morehead City, Beaufort etc. just as good as what you find in Raleigh. Which ones do you like? What do you wish we had around here?

One of my favorites is Cafe Zito in Morehead. Excellent food, extremely friendly people.

Another one is Blue Moon Bistro in Beaufort.

What I love about a lot of the smaller fine dining restaurants (not all mind you) is that they get seafood right from the area. No trucking or freezing or warehouse stops.

What I would love to see is a good Indian and a good Thai restaurant.

If you're in the New Bern area, there's a Thai restuarant on Neuse Blvd--Thai Thai. All of the ingredients are extremely fresh.

As for Indian, the closest one that I know of is Dale's in Greenville.

I'm a hot dog/shrimpburger fanatic so my when I'm in Morehead, I can't resist a stop at El's.

I second Thai Thai - always go there when I visit my mother in New Bern. We also had a lovely lunch in Atlantic Beach at Crab's Claw - right on the beach - wonderful, interesting food.

Is Windansea still in business. I've always really liked that spot but haven't been in awhile as they were not open last few times I was by there. I also haven't been able to get to their website in awhile. Just hoping they have not disappeared.

Yes, it is still there. I believe they have cut back on hours- open 4 nights a week maybe? I'm sure they'll be open more regularly as summer approaches.
