Marda Loop Deli

Has anyone tried the relatively new Deli just a few shops east of the Belmont Diner? I've been thinking of popping in but haven't had the chance yet.

  1. Yep- had lunch there last Saturday. This is another of Brad Myhre's places, and it's basically another Palace of Eats, but it ONLY does smoked meat sandwiches (don't recally seeing any bagels at all) in 3 sizes and reubens (w/ smoked meat of course). I got the smallest one ($6 with the best cole slaw I've ever tasted, a pickle and a few potato chips) and I really liked it, but unlike Palace of Eats, the meat is sliced with a mechanical slicer- no traditional knives here. This gives you a very thinly sliced smoked meat, which is how I like it, but purists might be disappointed. Oh, the other thing that distinguishes this place from Palace- it's open until 7p. Not just for lunch in other words. It has 3 or maybe 4 tables, small space (it used to be that ice cream place that was always empty); Brad and company told me a while back that this would be a gourmet burger place a la fatburger, but seeing it now it's clear that the space would never allow something with that sort of traffic. I'd say this is very good for Marda Loop.

Thanks John, I quite like Palace of Eats and so I will have to give it a try.
