Looking for Cuban food near BWI

a

I grew up in Florida and love Cuban food. My husband is from here and his family aren't familiar with any Cuban or "Floribbean" restaurants around here. I've done Bahama Breeze... It's okay, but I'd like something more authentic... not just a Cuban sandwich.

Thanks

Cuba de Ayer is excellent and if you're used to South Florida food I don't think you'll be unhappy.

I'm really curious about this. I went to Cuba de Ayer a few months back and I was completely underwhelmed. For the record, two of us shared ham croquettes, lechon asado, and pan con bistec (I think; I know it wasn't the cubano). Did we order the wrong things? What are the best things on the menu there?

We love the Salvadoran/Peruvian/Cuban food at the Salsa Grill on Security Boulevard in Woodlawn. Paella, Goat Stew, Arroz con Pollo, Soft Crab Saltado etc. Large enough portions to make the $2 plate sharing worth it. I was not impressed with either Little Havana on Key Highway or Babalu Grill at the Inner Harbor which are basically happy hour clubs with a cuban theme. www.eatsalsagrill.com

Thanks, except my husband won't venture that close to Security Square.

I really wouldn't worry about it, and you can always go for lunch if your husband is antsy. They also do take out, so you could stop by and pick some up and eat it at home.
