Restaurant Help

Ok, so I am headed off to LA next week, and I have a bunch of different reservation opitions
These are the different places.

Dolce, Spago, Celadon, Koi, Tengu (when I am in Santa Monica) and Katsuya.

A bunch of my restuarants seem to have similar cuisines. If I had to eliminate two of these restaurants, which do you suggest

I have to say, eliminate Tengu. All show, no substance. The place is basically a drink bar. I remember my experience with their sushi (Kanpachi, Spanish Mackerel, and Chuu-Toro) was less than memorable.

Concur that Dolce is all about the scene, with rather mediocre food. Would not recommend. Sorry, haven't been to the others you listed.

koi: tuna on crispy rice, warm crab rolls, miso cod, rock shrimp tempura, seared albacore w/onions, tuna "taco"

If you do go to Dolce, go on a Monday, where everything on the menu is 1/2 off.

Dolce and Tengu. Katsuya and Koi, while very similar and both originally set up by Katsuya himself, are shows unto themselves, and provide a benefit above just the food issue.

Dolce I think has also become less of a must-see spot than it used to be. I had a very good dinner there, but not one of the best.

Can never go wrong with Spago, but they also have locations in Vegas, Maui, and northern CA, if you happen to be going to any of those places anytime soon...

Dolce for sure. The food isn't very good, the leather on the chairs are worn--not in a good way.
Spago should stay on the list.
