A chow weekend in the Big Easy

The highlights:

Herbsaint - Shrip grit cakes with an amazing chile kick, superior seafood gumbo
Felix's - Tasty shrimp & oyster Po Boy (for breakfast!)
Coop's Place - Pasta Cajun (stellar, especially the homemade tasso), duck quesedilla (smoked to perfection)
Port O' Call - Burger, MR - classic
Italian Pie - Mediterranean pizza - excellent
Mother's - Ferdi's special (line was too long for breakfast)

  1. Gotta say you shoulda gone to Acme, but maybe I'm biased. Casamento's is even better for a po boy. Mother's is worth the wait, too.

Tried Acme's the first night - ten minutes before closing. They turned away the business. Casamento was a thought, but we went local (CBD/Quarter) for most of the weekend. Besides, Felix's was great - and as good as I recall Acme from past trips south.

As for Mothers, we went back for lunch -- when the line was only 15 minutes, and not 90.
