Villa Rental- Cortona

In August my family (6 adults) has plans to rent a villa near Cortona for a week. We have the option of having the kitchen stocked for us. Because we are all arriving at different times and destinations we are thinking is having them stock just enough food for a couple of days and some basics. The rest of the week we will do our own shopping.

What are some of the things that we should ask them to have ready for us? And what is in season at that time that we shouldn't miss?

Thank you!

  1. wow, I wouldnt want to deny myself the pleasure of shopping for myself - but if you want them to stock with ground coffee, milk, juice, wine, fruits, tomatoes butter etc. why not?? Some local pecorino cheeses, porchetta etc would be good. Bread if it was fresh. I think info about good shopping and restaurants nearby (and there will be some) would be infinitely better than the packaged foods you are likely to see provided.

Yeah, we are looking forward to our own shopping and cooking (already have started researching recipes). But because we have no idea what time we will be arriving (or how jetlagged) we want to be prepared for at least 3 meals (dinner, breakfast, lunch).

Thank you for the suggestions. Cheese is a great idea and one that I didn't think of.

eggs would be another thing they can stock you with. salami (the florentine finnocchio salami is really nice), some nice local olive oil...

bread tomatoes olive oil basil and cheese, with some fruit, and some wine will get you through plenty.

You also might ask them to buy you some of those huge bottles of bottled water carbonated or not to chill down.

Really, you wont be that to get out and going.
        have a great trip
