Ice Cream Maker Question

Hello hounds. After visiting a friend with an ice cream maker this weekend, to put it mildly we are obsessed.
I know there have been a lot of postings on this topic, mostly this time of year in prior years, but I was wondering if anyone could point me specifically toward a maker that does not require any parts to be placed in the freezer prior to use. Due to limited freezer space, freezing a bowl isn't really feasible for me. I realize that this eliminates a number of the less expensive options in the marketplace and am willing to spend a little more to accomodate.
We would appreciate any suggestions / feedback any of you may have on this.
Thank you in advance.

  1. I had the same problem (cylinders kept falling out of the freezer and hitting my foot), so I bought the "mussino lusso" I think it's called. I got mine from sur la table, but I'm not sure if they still sell it. I know that has it in their catalog. It is big and heavy and stainless steel and totally automatic (just plug it in and turn it on). It does take up some space on the countertop (and it's big, so you won't want to move it--just find a place for it and leave it there). But it is wonderful. If you don't mind spending the money, it is worth it. You will never need to buy ice cream again (get yourself some good ice cream recipe books too--the Ben & jerry's book is a good one to start with). It was worth every penny!
