Takeout in Santa Monica

graffitipassion Mar 19, 2007 07:33 AM

Looking for a place to pick up some takeout during the weekdays, around lunchtime. So preferable a place that can handle weekday lunch orders without having a line out the door.

The intersection is Olympic and 26th street in Santa Monica, but I can drive about 5 minutes out of the way.

This may be a little far for you, but Bay Cities Deli's "Godmother" sandwich beats all. You can fax in an order and pick it up, thus beating the long lines. Allow 45 minutes. The link is provided below.

    Bay Cities Deli
    1517 Lincoln Blvd
    Santa Monica, CA
    Fax 310-395-1575
    Across from Vons.

You can also submit your order online, which I love.

14th and Santa Monica - Buon Giorno. They have $5 lunch (amazing food) specials, cash only, to-go only.

As another idea you could get delivery from Classic Pizza on Pico. Just remember to call very early if you are doing this on a Friday or it's raining, as they are really popular all the time but insanely busy during those specific circumstances.

They have a couple of sandwiches that I recommend, the chicken and avocado is good and is the chicken and pesto with mozarella and the cold cuts sandwich is great too. I think their portebello sandwich is great for a vegetarian option and their salads are generally quite nice. Not as cracked up about their pizza or some of their other offerings. If you don't mind over cooked pasta their sausage with peas in a pink sauce with rigatoni is really quite tasty and huge.

If you google them you should see an online menu link with prices right near the very top of the page.

You're very near Tacos Por Favor (14th and Olympic) which usually has a line, but it seems to move quickly. Also close to Lemon Moon (Olympic and Bundy). My favorite lunch place in the area is at Mrs. Winston's in the Water Garden. Free, 15 minute parking too.
