Pistachio Macarons?

digkv Mar 18, 2007 09:54 PM

So, I just saw Marie Antointette, and in it she eats delicious looking macarons from Luderee. Well, I've never tried them so does anyone have a recipe for macarons, especially a pistachio flavored one? and Are they worth it to make? Thanks so much.

I believe there is a variation using pistachios (mybe in combo with almonds) in Cook's Illustrated. It's been a long while since I made that variation, but I remember it as being tasty.

LOVED that movie! Unfortunately I can't find any half decent macarons anywhere in Toronto (suggestions anyone?) so I had to settle on making them myself- so I did some serious all-night blogging and invested in a few cookbooks (like Paris Sweets by Dorie Greenspan which is fabulous btw) and here are two recipes which I think are worth attempting:

      and David Lebovitz's chocolate version:

for the record, I haven't tried either one yet, but David's version looks slightly more reliable, considering all the different attempts...

at first I thought you meant Pistachio Meringe - I have a recipe for that. Very good. they are Meringe cookies - pistachio.
