Chicken Sandwich

After having a rubbery Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich recently, I got to wondering if there's a local version of the Southern fried chicken breast sandwich that I should check out. Anybody know a place serving up on notable, flavorful, unique chicken sandwhich?

By the way, I've always had a weakness for Chick-Fil-A and the pickle, mayo, seasonings flavor combo, but recently it seems that the texture of the meat is always rubbery. Are the cooking them frozen? Frying them too long?

  1. I don't know the reason for the downfall of Chick-Fil-A either, but the best fried chicken sandwich I have had lately was at the Quarry House in Silver Spring. Really delicious.

    1. I recently had a great fried chicken sandwich at the Red Rooster in Damascus, MD.

      1. Crisp and Juicy has several locations, notably Arlington and Falls Church where you can get a great rotisserie chicken sandwich. Note that this may be a little off-topic, since the chicken is rotisserie style and not fried. However, it's the best chicken I've found these the last 8 years and goes great in a sandwich or standalone. Try it with their hot sauce for best results.

        1. Popeye's has a great fried chicken sandwich. Quick, hot and one of those things that you love that you know isn't any good for you.

          1. Folks, please help us keep this board focused on finding great chow that's unique to this area. Discussion of chicken sandwiches available at national chains is off topic for this board. We've moved an informative post on Chick-Fil-A to the Chains board at http://www.chowhound.com/topics/383245
