Amazing vegetarian experience in Mendocino
I'm writing a post here to reply to Sram's question at the SF Bay Area Board:

There is a place in Mendocino called "The City of Ten Thousand Buddahs" (http://www.drba.org/) which has a simple vegetarian restaurant open to the public. The food is really inventive and a marvelous experience. It is very budget friendly as well.

For a splurge dinner in the town of Mendocino, you can't beat Cafe Beaujolais. Check the menu for vegetarianness, as I wasn't thinking about that, but they have some fish dishes that are wonderful.
Last time we were in Mendocino we went to the Albion River Inn because a local had recommended it to someone as the best restaurant around (we overheard): it was nice, but couldn't hold a candle to Cafe Beaujolais -- except for the view. -
