Depending on what you want, The Pacific Garden Mall would be a good place to start:
El Palomar for good Mexican food
Mobo Sushi for sushi
Szechuan Gardens on Pacific which doesnt look great but has this wonderful dish "szechuan fish"
Jalapenos on the corner of Pacific and Laurel for burritos, the best I have ever had›1 Reply-
re: julieswan
Jalapenos has a great chicken mole flavored with just a hint of orange.
For funky (aka true SC) fare go to Saturn Cafe on Pacific and Laurel. Fun Veggie stuff with some neat nights. They used to do a cheap eats where everything was half price or Wednesday Wig night (10% off your bill if you wear a wig).
My pick for best burritos in town however must go to Tacos Morenos on Water near Soquel. SOOOOO HUGE, SOOO AMAZING, esp. their chile verde. Succulent, melt in your mouth beef with just beans, cabbage cheese, and salsa in the reg. burrito, with sour cream and guac. added to the supreme. Their tacos are also big and filling. I am totally filled up after two of those. They also do very nice corn quesadillas with beans, cheese, cabbage and salsa. I think I've gone over everything on the menu now. Oh, lastly one of the daughters of the owners (she sometimes is on the register) is a member of the National Womens Boxing Team. WOW!
Lastly for dinner I would recommend Sabeing for some excellent Thai. It is on Mission about two blocks (?) south of Bay. Very reasonably priced as well.
