Frozen Tamales?

Can anyone recommend a place to get good frozen tamales for home use?

I order frozen tamales on line from my favorite place in Santa Fe. I grew up eating them so I'm biased, but they are yummy.

Costco has not frozen, pre cooked, heat and eat tamales that I freeze and then steam. Al Pastor is the only kind I've ever seen. 8 or so to a bag. Very good. Not what I get from the Mexican places in Astoria, but they are still good.

There's a place on 5th Ave (east side of the street, just below the park) in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, that sells terrific tamales out of a cooler at the front of the restaurant. They're served fresh and hot, but freeze and reheat beautifully. (They come in foil.) I'd guess that they top any you might find prefrozen.

I'm intrigued. You mean just south of Sunset Park -- the literal eponymous Park, not just the neighborhood proper? Anything else you can give me so i can find it?

Right: just south of the actual Sunset Park park, in the neighborhood of Sunset Park. I wish I could remember the name, but again, it's on the east side of 5th ave, just one or two blocks south of the park. It's a small restaurant (w/ a jukebox?), and they usually have a cooler just inside with the tamales. I believe it has a red awning, or an awning with some red on it. Wish I could remember more specifics (like, say, the name of the place), but those blocks are quite small and I'm sure you'll be able to find it. If you can, I recommend the chicken verde, and the oaxaceno (wrapped in a banana leaf) is quite good, too.

There's also a lady who sells Tamales in front of the Church on 9th street between 4th and 5th Avenue.

I purchased two chicken tamales from her - one wrapped in banana leaf, the other wrapped in a corn husk.

She was there at around 1:20 pm today - Sunday.

i get mine at SUCELT in manhattan. they have several varieties. all are ok, if not memorable. i steam them up at home.

Trader Joe's has pretty good frozen tamales...around $3 for two
