  1. Agree with you on El Fenix....I tend to overlook them since they've been around so long , but they serve an excellent product al around .
Why don't you try Javiers....they serve two salsas with their chips , both are very good .

Hmm the warm hot sauce at Mercado Juarez is good, by the way skip their cheapy lunch, dinner on their portal charcoal grills is much better.

Also there is a taqueria on Lombardy Lane about 1/2 mile east of Harry Hines (previously talked about here) it has the best Tomatillo based warm sauce.

Javier's also has a really tasty habanero sauce that they'll bring out upon request - I really like it with their steak dishes.

      2. the salsa verde at los arcos on ross.

The salsa verde at Los Arcos rocks!

Especially at 3 am after 14 drinks!

As much as I hate to say this, The Blue Goose on Lower Greenville has excellent, fresh tasting salsa. And what makes it extra special is dipping one of their hot, fresh flour tortillas in the salsa. Triple yum.

I hate to say anything good about The Blue Goose because I think the vast majority of the menu is horrific.

        2. Tejanos in OakCliff hot sauce is so fresh I eat it with a spoon and I don't like raw tomatoes!

I don't know about best, as I'm not a big Tex-Mex fan, but the salsa verde at Taco Diner in West Village is hard to beat.

I second Mike's suggestion. That stuff is excellent. Too bad they serve you such a small portion with your entrees. They are happy to give you more if you ask, though.

          2. My fave is still Herrera's. Nuclear hot and muy sabroso!

Gotta say that El Fenix is my favorite, as well as their food for your basic cheese enchilada dinner, chips, salsa, and margaritas...just can't be beat

Like a previous poster on this thread mentioned....try the place on Harry Hines and Lombardy Ln. Its called El Paisanos. Their hot sauce is really hot and really addictive!! Can't stop eating it and following it up with ice cold water :)

              2. re: GroovinGourmet

Tie between Herrera's and El Fenix for me.

                    4912 Cole Avenue, Dallas.

It is near the northern most end of McKinney/Cole.

                    1. re: DFWGuy

Monticello and Cole is the closest intersection- though the best way to get there is to take McKinney as it curves around into Cole.
