SD - Brown Rice Sushi?

I am looking for a sushi restaurant in San Diego that serves brown rice in addition to the usual white - preferably close to downtown.

Anyone know of a spot?

Sipz serves brown rice sushi, albeit vegan sushi. Further, Sipz is not close to downtown.

I know my rec isn't in SD, but if you're ever in Venice, Shima on Abbot Kinney specializes in this. Yoshi mills his own rice to ensure the bran is to a level to his particular liking. He ain't cheap, and you'll probably need reservations for dinner.

You might already know this - but Whole Foods makes pretty decent sushi with brown rice. If you go during the day it is made fresh, right there at the case. It's not quite the same as what you would get at a restaurant, but it's not bad. I occasionally pick it up to take home for dinner. The spicy tuna handroll is my favorite.

I agree with alice q , for a quick bite the brown rice sushi at Whole food is good.

oh Nozomi in La jolla and Clairemont mesa allows you to substitute quite a few of their rolls with brown rice.

This place is significantly better than any american super market =P
