  1. Not as of 10 days ago and no vacant space looked like it could open as a restaurant for a while.

    1. There's info via eater that Shopsin's is currently serving breakfast in conjunction with Saxelby Cheesemongers: http://eater.com/archives/2007/03/sho...

      1. yes, it has, although perhaps not at full operational speed. i stopped by the essex street market two saturdays ago and saw kenny himself loafing around in the space right next to saxleby cheesemongers and shooting the breeze with a couple who seem to have been regulars from the previous location.

for now, customers must place their orders at the saxleby cheesemongers stall. there's a very brief menu listed on the saxleby counter, which includes a few old favorites like blisters on my sisters as well as stuff like breakfast sandwiches and oatmeal. the saxleby lady even gave me and the others a free sample of cheese while we were waiting for kenny to prepare our order.

        1. Thanks for the correction. I was there a week ago Saturday, but somehow, we missed it.

          1. Went to Saxelby on Thursday. She said Kenny won't be doing the sandwiches through her for the next three weeks because his kitchen is in the reconstruction phase. She's worth a visit on her own though -- fun to talk with and a great stock of cheeses.

            1. The woman at Saxelby is really nice and the cheeses are great(somewhat expensive) and the goat's milk yogurt is creamy and delicious

              1. I never went to Shopsins, but I heard Kenny Shopsin is a lunatic. Is this true?

                1. In a sitcom, he's what's known as a "lovable eccentric." When I was a kid, we used to call people like him "characters." He's certainly not insane, just tempermental. He's fiercely intelligent if you get him started on a topic he's interested in.
