Where? Looking for ice cream parlours. Went to one in Yorkville once, can't remember the name, is it a summer only place? I also found on the net a place east of Finch/Bayview, can anyone confirm if it exists? Help!

Yes it does exist !!
It's at the small plaza between Bayview and Leslie, along Finch.
It's called "soy-n-joy" and they have a whole line of soy ice cream with a lot of flavours that you don't typically find. The owners actually have degrees in food science and I think they like to experiment with different flavours! There are some newspaper articles on their window.

Sumashi - thanks for the rec, we tried soy-n-joy tonight. What a great find. We sampled the black sesame (fantastic), pistachio bean (yummy), red wine chocolate (very nice and not too sweet), mandarin chocolate (weakest of the bunch), mango (good), almond creme (excellent), raspberry chocolate (good) and red bean (good). They are such a nice couple. He mentioned that King's Cafe carries 6 of his flavours so if I can't get uptown, I can head over to Kensington market instead.

While we're on this subject, there used to be a small soft-serve company called "Freeze" that had a stand in Yorkville, later in Roy Square and on then on Church. This product was extremely low-cal and also claimed to be kosher. They had about 30 flavours in rotation. I don't think it was soy, but maybe...

I thought they were brilliant, but they vanished. Could this product be any relation to that which you describe? If not, does anyone know what I'm talking about???

Sweet Fantasies on Bloor at Brunswick has two flavours of Tofutti vegan ice cream available. I haven't tried the chocolate, but I can highly recommend the vanilla almond, which is vanilla ice cream with chocolate covered almond pieces inside.
