Canlis - is it truly 'the' place to go for a romantic dinner?

Can anyone tell me more about Canlis? Is it worth all you hear to take that one someone special for a romantic dinner? And what about the "special" room that can be reserved for just two?....is it worth it?

My wife and I do use that for 'special occasions.' We have not used the private room, but have always been delighted with our table, service and the food. The truffle french fries should be a requirement.

The Cache (room for 2-4) is very special. As the previous poster said, service is impeccable and food is generally well prepared. I have been the recepient of the too-well cooked duck, but they are happy to try to make your meal perfect. The truffle french fries--YUM!

Also, an exception wine list, if you are into the drink, also.

I haven't been there in a few years but we had the Cache Room and it was fabulous. We enjoyed the food and the service and having our own private room was an amazing experience. Plus it was very romantic. While the food may not be cutting edge, I thought it was very solid.
