Que Ricos!

katkoupai Mar 15, 2007 06:14 PM

I had the tres tacos (carne asada) plate, plus fresh papaya agua for about 5 or 6 dollars. I thought it was pretty good.

712 N. Vermont Avenue
(near the 101 fwy exit: Vermont)

Does anyone else like this place? Is there a better alternative in the same area?

In that neighborhood, go to El Gran Burrito on Santa Monica Blvd just west of Vermont. It is only a couple short blocks away and much better.

Try El Gran Burrito or Tacos Delta!

I had an unfortunate incident at this Que Ricos

I agree with rednyellow and burger boy. El Gran is much better.

but if you want the best tacos in that area and it's after 7:30pm head to the El Matador taco truck at the corner of western and lexington (1174 N Western Ave)

I read your review on your blog, Bandini. I really like your blog, by the way, and the pics (so many tacos!)

The food I had at Que Ricos on Vermont today was pretty good. I can't say it was the best, but I liked it. I also really like that they make their agua frescas. You can't always find that at other places. I have tried their melon and their papaya aqua frescas so far. Prefer the melon. I wonder if their horchata is real or powdered.

Problem is, I'm not in the area at night (only for work), so I'll miss the El Matador taco truck. :( I can check out El Gran Burrito, though.

Thanks, to all, for the info. I will reference this info for future lunch time eating. :)

I used to live near the Que Ricos on Victory near Coldwater Canyon in North Hol...er... Valley Glen. It was just "OK" -- the wet burritos were the things to get there -- but it was always overshadowed by Carnitas Michoacan, which had better food (except wet burritos) and easier access from my house.

I was trying to decide if I liked Que Ricos better or El Indio Azteca (my old standby In Northridge). I liked the flavor of the food at El Indio Azteca better, but they didn't have the salsa bar or the aqua frescas. If I could find a place that has the salsa bar, the aqua frescas AND the good carne asada (close to home or work), I wiould be very happy. :)

I got the chicken mole once at Que Ricos. It was horrible.

Really? Thanks for the input. I rarely order mole, but this is good to know. :)

There's no poblanos or oaxaquenos in the kitchen -- I only order mole at places that seem to specialise in it.
