Rehearsal dinner in Manhattan for 60 people

I am looking for suggestions for a location in Manhattan to host a rehearsal dinner for approx. 60 people. Price range of $70-100 per person (excluding wine). Ideally a venue with a private room where we can have drinks and then a sit down for dinner. There will be some younger children (e.g. ages 7-12). Ideas I have considered are Beacon and City Hall, so if anyone has any experience (good or bad) I would love to hear about it. Thanks.

Ah, the rehersal dinner decision. This was one of the tougher things to accomplish for my fiance and I in planning our wedding for later this summer. We must have looked at 25 places before choosing.

Anyway, not sure what kind of vibe you are looking for, but we ended up going with a private room at Rosa Mexicano - Union Sq. They have two rooms, one for up to 45 people, the other up to 65. There are 3 diff menu types to choose from (3 or 4-course), ranging from $65 to $95 per person excl alcohol. You can also incoroporate an open bar for $30 per person extra (the rooms are for 3 hours total) or just per consumption for drinks.

There are guarantted minimum spends based on what time slot you take, but with 60 people you wouldnt have trouble hitting it with an early (5:30-8pm) or late time (8:30-11:30pm).

Fiamma has a private event space. I went to a party there and the food was great may be pricier than $70-100.

Other good party spaces include: Blue Water Grill, Jane, Macelleria, Battery Gardens, Da Nico (fun little italy place). Granted these aren't top food places but its hard to find both great food/private space and stay within a reasonable budget. Good luck!

You might want to consider Keens, which has excellent food and unmatchable old NY ambiance. There are several gorgeous private rooms. The Lincoln Room can accommodate up to 60 people, and the Lambs Room, 30-100. It's possible to eat there for $100pp (excluding wine), but I don't know if the same holds true of private parties. Definitely worth checking into.

ORSAY (75th and lex) has a pretty private room upstairs, and I have been there for a really nice event that had good food. I don't know if you can in for <$100, though.

                  Hi there,
I am in the same predicament although there are just 25 for my rehearsal dinner and our budget is much less than yours, sadly In the course of my investigations, I really liked the upmarket and historic Italian steakhouse Del Monico on Beaver Street, near Wall Street where a friend of mine actually held her very successful wedding. It has various private rooms of different sizes and a three course dinner just within your price range. Plus it's kid-friendly. Call and they will e-mail you their private dining package. Good luck!
