re: abu applesauce
yes, we get takeout alot from there, a much better deal if you just want falafel and salads, then eating there...they give you larger quantities on takeout, and it's less expensive...get the spicy fried eggplant, hummus, hot sauce, tahini, falafel, tomato eggplant (turkish eggplant), and their pita---the israeli salad isn't too great, very bland, and often soggy---be prepared for a long wait on Sunday evening..,their busiest time..

John K, you showed me the way to Cascan cheesecake, for this I am eternally grateful. I wish I could repay you in kind here, however, all of my infromation re this area is second-hand, I've never been. Here's what I've heard:
Shwarma: There is much debate over who is King of the area, Grill Point (Jewel and Main), or Pita Hot (on Main a few blocks north, I think). From what I've read, you can't go wrong in either place.
Falafel: People seem to rave about a place called Naomi's Pizza and Falafel--also on Main Street, near queens college. The two aformentioned plces hould have good falafel too.
I live in nearby forest hills and get my shwarma from a plce called On the Grill--it's on north side of QB, right off 67th avenue. They make a great shwarma wrap.›2 Replies
