hello Halifax chowhounders,

In Halifax for the next several days at a conference. Staying at the Delta.

I'm looking for suggestions for good fare within walking distance or a short cab away. Nothing too expensive (entrees less than $25, less than $20 even better). Type of fare--not picky--love sushi, thai, vietnamese, french-bistro etc. Liked the look of Jane's on the Common. Would love to try some great seafood (I saw a post for John's for fish and chips--will try to get there) too.

Thanks in advance!

Within walking distance of the Delta:

Sweet Basil and O'Carroll's, both on Water St.
Little Fish and Five Fishermen, on Argyle (Five Fish is above your $ limit though)
Piccolo Mondo (Italian) and Opa (Greek), further up Argyle

If you don't mind walking up Spring Garden Rd, Baan Thai has some great thai food.

If you're up that way, The Cellar (just off SGR) is a nice bistro

For a totally different change of pace and price point, the food court in Scotia Square offers a pair of great Korean and Indian choices.

    Enjoy your stay!

Chives, on Barrington, down towards Spring Garden.

John's is definitely worth taking in while you're here! Take the Woodside Ferry across the harbour to Dartmouth and it's right there on the far side of the parking lot. Enjoy!
