Years ago, a roommate (with whom I've since lost touch) made a hazelnut cake/torte from a recipe she found. The cake was amazing - nutty and rich in a way unlike anything else I've ever had.

I can't find a recipe like it online. The unique thing about this recipe was that it called for some vastly ridiculous quantity of hazelnuts - the amount "14 cups" pops into my head but that sounds like a huge exageration. However I do remember a very full plastic bag of hazelnuts from the bulk bin sitting on the kitchen counter, so maybe it's not far off.

Anyone have a recipe like this?

Thank you!

Well it sure doesn't call for that many hazelnuts, but for what it's worth here is a recipe from a "gourmet" cooking class my mom took 20 some years ago.

Hazelnut Torte
4 eggs
3/4 c sugar
2 Tbsp flour
2 1/2 tsp b powder
1 c ground hazelnuts

Beat eggs and sugar approx 5 minutes, mix in flour, baking powder and nuts.
Pour into 2 greased and lined 8 inch pans. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

Filling
2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp hot coffee
1 c icing sugar
1 tsp cocoa

Beat all together.

Assemble cake once layers have cooled and ice with lightly sweetened whipping cream.

Hope this helps with your craving!
