Prune-filled Eastern European pastries? (not hamantaschen)
I made vast quantities of prune hamantaschen this year and discovered that my grandmother's recipe for prunes yields enough for two full batches of dough. I made an extra half-size batch of dough, but the long and the short of it is I now still have a lot of homemade prune butter sitting in my freezer (anyone know how long it will keep in the freezer??).
Does anyone have good prune pastry recipes? You can't find prune pastry easily out here in Seattle. I'd especially like to find old-style Eastern European pastry recipes. I remember a many-layered pastry from the bakery next to Kossar's Bialys in NYC; thin layers of soft, tender dough alternated with thin layers of prune... something like that or equally tasty.
Thanks in advance!
