In/Around Ossining

Having to spend the weekend in Ossining/Tarrytown - please tell me we might find someplace to have dinner on Saturday night without have to drive too far. We like local places better than chains ...... and since it's St. Patrick's Day, might even enjoy a good corned beef and cabbage. Any suggestions?

Is Dudley's still open in Ossining?
We ate there several years ago and I thought the food and service there were outstanding.
We're heading that way again soon and I'd like to know if they are still open and I'd like to know anyone's opinion about the place.
    Thanks!

Sadly, Dudley's has been closed for some time now. There is a new restaurant at the location called Goldfish. I have not been there, but reviews I have heard and read have not been great.

I read the negative NYT review and have to disagree-- I went to Goldfish for brunch a few months ago and loved it!

Brunch buffet can be quite different than dinner. The NYT review was pretty bad--and I heard that "sea legs" were served in a dish advertised as crab--quite a deal breaker for me. Anyone have a great experience with dinner at Goldfish?

Good point. I wouldn't hesitate to go back for brunch, though.

I had dinner there last night, and loved it. Everything was fantastic, and the service was wonderful!

thank you all for the responses. I'm sure we'll be trying some of your suggestions.

And to Nancy C. my apologies for making it sound like I HAVE to (hand to forehead in disgust) spend the weekend in Ossining. My intended message was it was not a destination I/we had thought of, but rather one that arrived unexpectedly without much notice. We are actually looking forward to our visit very much! Thanks again for your suggestions.

If you want to stay in Ossining, saw an ad in today's Pennysaver that Main Street Steakhouse will be having specials for St.Patrick's Day.

If you get the chance try Wobble cafe they have one of the coziest breakfast spots around, and they are kid friendly if it applies to you.

You could try the VFW FREE corned beef and cabbage event in Ossining. Free from 5-7pm on 3/17. No vouching for the experience - just saw the signs today.

Failing that, Brasserie Swiss or Doca's could provide a bright spot in Ossining, or drive a smidge north to Croton on Hudson for Umami or Ocean House.

Sorry you HAVE to spend the weekend in Ossining/Tarrytown. Thousands of people CHOOSE to spend their time here.
