How to prepare dried butter beans?

I was told by a fellow farmers market shopper that these Italian butter beans have great flavor but she dashed off before I could get a recipe. Suggestions for soaking, cooking with lots of garlic and herbs? I'd like to try them by themselves, not in a stew, to taste their full particular flavor.
