MSP - Citypages wine event?
Has anyone ever been to a Citypages wine event (if there actually have been any in the past)? There's one coming up at the end of the month and I was wondering if it was worth the $35. It's catered by D'Amico.
We've gone to a few of the smaller foodie events around the cities and they're always insanely crowded and unenjoyable. We actually left the "Best of the Twin Cities" awards last year because it was miserable. We did go to one champagne tasting by Surdyk's that was reasonable. If you're interested in this event I would call and ask how many tickets they're selling. I heard the IronFork event was also packed.
This doesn't answer your question, because I've never gone to a City Pages wine tasting, but there are bunches of wine tastings out there. I think the quality varies depending on how well it's run and how mobbed it gets. The Humane Society has a really nice tasting with decent food, great wine, and cute animals (there's a Kisses Booth staffed by a golden retriever :-).
Me, I'm thinking of going to this weekend's tasting by Zipp's at the Cedar Cultural Center, which is a benefit for a food-related organization (Youth Farm and Market Project). Has anyone been to a Zipp's-hosted tasting?
A friend's husband is in charge of the Zipp's wine tasting, and he has great taste in wine. I was thinking about it, but I'll be out of town.
