Beer Madness

The Washington Post is running a March Madness tournament involving 32 beers on its website. Beers remaining include: Pete's Wicked, Anchor Steam, Saranac Pale Ale, Dogfish, Brooklyn Lager, Sam Adams...

Wow, there are some really disheartening "upsets" in that bracket. Who the hell is making these tasting decisions, and what do they normally drink? Also... "Dogfish Head" is a little vague, isn't it? Are they drinking Aprihop or World Wide Stout?

I can't find it at the moment, but I've seen a pretty entertaining bracket-style showdown between all of the widely available malt liquor brands. I believe the winner was Olde English 800, and rightly so.

Update - they are now at the elite 8 - Saranac Pale vs Dogfish Head, Dominion Ale vs Allagash White, Brooklyn Lager vs Rolling Rock (no brainer) and Pete's Wicked Ale vs Ellie's Brown Ale.

It's a Dogfish Head Lager.... if you click on the bracket you'll get the specifics on the beers...

VERY interesting contest.... It also looks fairly scientific because they are drinking the beers blind.

I'm not sure what it says about the "blind testers" since they chose Bud over Victory Lager.

FYI - Dogfish Head Shelter Pale Ale isn't a lager, hence the word "ale" in the name. ;)
