I am taking someone out for their birthday tommorow and they love duck. I was going to go to Bay Wolf in Oakland but a co-worker said the duck isn't that great. Has anyone had the duck at Le Colonial? Please send your suggestions for best Duck in the city. It can be a fancy spot, no-frills, Chinese, Jamaican, it doesn't matter. I am just looking for a sublime, out of this world duck that they won't ever forget. Thanks

I love Great China's tea-smoked duck so much I'll probably never taste their Peking duck.

My other favorite dish is "Double Skin":

Sounds like good recommendations.

I love duck, but have always eschewed the presentations in a fruit sauce.

I'll make it at home with a James Beard recipe: salt pepper and paprika and don't open the oven door.

I've also had some lovely duck tapas in the city. Zarzuela at Hyde and Union.

Any place in the bay area that serves goose?

I would like to offer a dissenting opinion about Bay Wolf. I haven't made an exhaustive comparative search--but the food there (and service) has always met my expectations for a special meal.
And I'd like to also mention Britt-Marie's half duck--not sublime but always a favorite.
