Ice Cream Cake needed

Hi everyone,
My fiance is an ice cream cake fanatic. So, I'd like to have custom made ice cream cakes for our wedding. Is there any place that does this besides Baskin Robbins or Cold Stone Creamery?

I'd like to shop locally if I can. The reception is in Piedmont, so someplace near there would be terrific.

Thanks much!

  1. Ici on College in Berkeley has Ice Cream Bombes, though I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. They aren't cheap, but you can try there.

The bombes at Ici are neither cheap, good looking or tasty. I had one for my birthday and was EXTREMELY disappointed. From Morton's description I'd go with Sketch. That's where I'll be getting my next ice cream cake.

    2. Safeway also makes ice cream cakes. Not sure if that's what you want...

      1. There is a Carvel's on Telegraph. You can get a Cookie Puss or Fudgy The Whale.

Yeah, as much as I love Carvel's chcolate soft serve cone, the ice cream cake was better left a childhood memory.

        2. Just got an ice cream cake from Haagen Dazs. It was the best one I've had yet!!! They'll suggest vanilla, strawberry or chocolate, but you can always choose from any of their flavors. I picked coffee ice cream with a whipped cream frosting (highly recommended) in a heart shape and it was heavenly. You'll love it. And they have several ice cream stores throughout the country. www.haagen-dazs.com

          1. Does Fentons do ice cream cakes?

            1. I had an excellent cake from Ben & Jerry's. You can choose your/her favorite flavors.

              1. If you want an Ice Cream Cake that will make your fiance swoon and love you forever, go to Sketch in Berkeley. I've had three ice cream cakes from them. You wont find a better one anywhere.

Read Morton's post, linked above. It's a fun read, full of details, and if that
doesn't make your decision for you, well...

                  1. Maggie Mudd's in San Francisco makes excellent vegan ice cream cakes out of their various soy, nut, and coconut milk based ice creams.

                    1. I know the OP is looking for East Bay, but.....I have to mention Bi-Rite Creamery. I saw their ice cream cakes and they looked so good....

                      1. Mitchell's on San Jose Ave in SF. They have 3 kinds of coconut ice cream -- I got choc cake with young coconut ice cream and choc icing. All kinds of flavors to choose from.

                        1. Loard's Ice Cream with shops all over Alameda and Contra Costa makes them. I got a fresh mango ice cream cake one year for my dad. The whole family loved it.
