Best Place for Caviar Service?

Hello Everyone,

I'll be in Paris at the end of the month and was hoping someone could recommend somewhere to enjoy caviar service (and not totally break the bank if possible!). I know we can go to Petrossian (sp?) but one can do that in NYC so any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!!

  1. On the plane this morning I was reading in the Air France magazine about a new chef at Pruniers Cavier House at 15 place de la Madeleine, Paris. From memory it talked about a novel French cavier in addition to traditional sources.
No idea if it is good or not but it sounded intrigueing - I am usually sceptical about airline magazines but Air France's directed me to Le Comptoir about 18 months ago - a good 6 months before most other reviews....!

I re-read the article (on my return flight) it was not in their normal magazine but the one called "Madmemoiselle".

Apparently it is a new seafood bar next to the existing restaurant, owned by Pierre Berge (long time collaborator of Yves St Laurent). The fashionable speciality of the moment is caviar from the Gironde (near Bordeux) - stand at the bar and indulge using the mother of pearl spoon.

As i said I have not tried it - but it sounds interesting.

    2. Galeries Lafayette in the gourmet section of the shopping plaza has a great Petrossian bar where you can sit and eat caviar.
