Lambertville, NJ - Your Favorite BYOs

With spring in the air yesterday, we rode our bikes on the path along the Delaware, and then went into charming Lambertville for dinner. I knew DeAnna's had moved to a new location since the last time we were there, but didn't know they were no longer BYO. Since we were looking for a BYO, we ended up at Rick's. The food was good, and the service was VERY good, but I'm wondering which other BYOs in town (or nearby) we ought to try on our next trip up there.

Andiamo - 13 Kines Court. Best BYOB in Lambertville IMO - and I have been to just about everyone since I'm local.

I live in Lambertville and love the area's restaurants. A few recent trips to Cafe Galleria have been just great. This very small restaurant is located where DeAnna's used to be, across the street from Rick's. The menu is creative and the food is prepared fresh. The salads are wonderful, as are the brick oven pizzas and pasta entrees. I feel Manon and Hamilton Grill are overpriced and not consistent enough. Another great BYOB restaurant is Tastebuds in New Hope. Go to tastebuds-newhope.com to check out their menu. The service is excellent, ambiance is Bucks Co. meets South Beach, and the food is consistently delicious. DeAnna's at her new location has excellent food so don't forget about it for a special occasion. Bon Appetit!

I never thought of the old DeAnna's as a "special occasion" restaurant. Has the restaurant become more upscale in their new location?

Are Cafe Galleria and Tastebuds both BYO?

Thai Tida on North Union Street is a BYO.

We love Lambertville too. We just tried Rick's for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Cute place, and you're right - the service is terrific. The food was somewhat mixed. Our salads were great, and my son had a huge bowl of steamers that made him very happy (he's six). The garlic bread he got with it was tasty too. I had eggplant parmesan which I wasn't as pleased with. I had to look for the eggplant underneath all the sauce that was poured all over it. All I could really taste was the sauce. I forget what my DH had, but he seemed happy with it. It also seemed a trifle pricey for what we got.

Suggest you try Manon. It's a tiny restaurant so I suggest you reserve, even on a weeknight. Can be noisy (but fun!) on a weekend night. I think they're closed Monday and Tuesday so check with them first.

Agree about Manon. And you're correct about them being closed Monday and Tuesday.

No. 9, which serves New American cuisine, is another excellent BYO.

Hamilton's Grill Room is very popular. However, after not having been there in a very long time, we had dinner there, and I thought the food was just so-so.

Matt's Red Rooster Grill, in Flemington, has the same concept as Hamilton's Grill. Not surprising since its owners -- both named Matt -- were former employees at HGR. However, I found the food at Matt's to be superior to HGR. Friendlier service and very nice ambiance.

Really? I'm just now reading very mixed reviews of the place on another posting http://www.chowhound.com/topics/364909

Really. I swear. It's much better than the place in Buckingham. That meal sounds uncharacteristic in so many ways. I don't know what was going on, but I've been there probably fifty times since they opened (which I guess was in the late 80's), and it's been consistently delicious. I'm picky, too. And I've never been served anything other than good jasmine rice there.
