Golden Farms Market -- on San Fernando Road in Glendale

I just love this market! It is a mix of Armenian and Mexican and Persian and Russian and... and it is a wonderful adventure, always. We have been many times, and each time I am amazed at what I discover. The problem is that I don't know how good it is until I get home to try my purchases, and then I want to return immediately to shop again for more!

This past visit on Saturday I found some wonderfully rich, sweet, gooey, fresh black pitted prunes. I also bought several clam-packs of their highest quality dates (which were back in the deli section on the high counter -- the ones in the produce section were not of the same quality). I also found fresh, gooey figs -- still in their wood shipping crate -- so I selected the darkest and sweetest of the bunch. We also enjoy their jumbo black raisins, and those we found in front by the entrance.

They have several types of feta cheeses; we were pleased with the Bulgarian Feta they recommended the last time we were there, so we duplicated that order. Additionally, we found some Russian spice cookies with no artificials added; these have a glaze dripped over them, so they taste like donuts.

An hour goes by quickly here, and even when we were checking out, I was still discovering new purchases for my next visit!
