Favorite meal of the day?

For me it has to be breakfast. It's the meal that gets me going for the day. Breakfast can be so versatile, whether it's cold cereal, hot oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, eggs, heck, even cold pizza, I look forward to what I'm going to surprise myself with each morning. I'd be very honest in saying that it's the only meal that I truly don't mind preparing and having to clean up afterward.

    Breakfast, hands down.

Pork products rock. Corned beef hash, Spam, turkey sausage.
Egg dishes - Fritattas, omelettes, savory crepes, Joe's scramble
    Breads - Waffles, pancakes, biscuits
and things like breakfast pasta, dutch baby, and mimosas!
Growing up Filipino, the first thing i self-taught myself was fried rice with whatever sounded good. But as you can see, I love all sorts of brekkie foods.

The best part is . . . . i can eat breakfast for dinner!

I am going to have to go with dinner, primarily because it is typically my only meal. I don't necessarily eat a sit down breakfast or lunch. I typically graze on yogurt, fruit, and veggies throughout the day, not ever really eating anything too heavy. Dinner is when I actually prepare a meal and get creative. I also like the fact that it is a time to sit down and converse with my fiancee.

dinner, because it's the only meal that i have with a glass of wine.

I enjoy a good brunch on a weekend. Slower pace with foods I don't normally eat on a daily basis, like eggs benedict, maybe a mimosa, yum

Dinner, the work day is over, and I can relax, even if it is leftovers from the weekend. If it is the weekend, I typically go out for dinner on Saturday, and cook a large meal to savor on Sunday nights.

I dont eat breakfast, and lunch typically consists of a turkey sandwich, and chips(trying to save the $$$'s I was spending going out for lunch every day). With that said on Fridays I still go out for lunch, and if I can get a seat at Katy's Dumpling Housse in Downers Grove, or @ Lao Szechuwan, those meals are at the top of the list.

Breakfast, but on SUNDAY. Week day we're all about healthy BUT quick.
Sunday we plan, prepare together, take our time, invite friends & family. Such a difference.

For myself my fav meal is the newest "food find." The "wow what a surprise" factor at any meal.

I like breakfast foods best of all, but I'd rather have them for dinner. So I'm not sure how to answer this.

Breakfast, because I do in fact wake up very hungry just about every morning - frequently I'll even DREAM about breakfast shortly before the alarm goes off. And I can cheerfully eat just about anything for breakfast as well: steak, fish, eggs, bread of any kind, leftover pasta, leftover pizza, fried chicken, oatmeal or corn flakes, vegetables...about the only thing I'm not ready for is salad. When we were on a tour (guided by Martin Yan) in Hong Kong, just about the high point of every day for me was hitting the breakfast buffet at our hotel, which offered not only the usual fancy American/"Continental" breakfast and brunch items, but English, European and Asian dishes as well. Thus armed, we would then go forth...and let Yan lead us to the next meal!

Totally with you on this one, Will.

                    Breakfast rocks!

But sadly, I don't always have the time to eat breakfast ...

As some folks are posting farther along, we too don't have much time on weekdays, and I'm supposed to be taking it easy with eggs and stuff anyway...so I make up big batches of steelcut oats and parcel it out into two-cup containers, and then zap that with some raisins and have an apple or orange on the side. Then on weekends I get out the eggs and the bacon and the grits and all like that.

All meals are good, but I appreciate lunch a lot more these days, even if it's eaten at my desk. As the parent of charming but active 4- and 6- year old boys, it's so nice to have one meal of the day when I am not (1) rushing to get everyone out the door (breakfast), (2) reminding everyone to sit down, come back to the table, eat those veggies, not wipe those grubby hands on the tablecloth, take another bite, etc., etc. (dinner), (3) responsible for preparing the food and cleaning up the mess afterwards, (4) unable to hear myself think, or engage in a civilized, sustained conversation. On the other hand, pint-sized dining companions can be a ton of fun, too, when everyone's in the right frame of mind!

Dinner because it's my biggest meal and the one with the most variety, with even the occasional dinner out. Breakfast is a close second. I have the same thing--oatmeal--every morning. But I make my oats on the stove and I make them just for myself. There's something very relaxing about having that time to myself.

Dinner followed by dessert, which in my mind is one meal. I can't have dinner without a little (or big) something sweet afterwards.

Mine is lunch. I get to be creative and not consider anyone else's preferences as part of the equation and it's easy to make a last minute change if I feel compelled to.

Dinner is my favorite meal. I like it because I've always equated it to family time. I like making dinner with my family and deciding on the menu and eating together and not being rushed. Don't get me wrong, though, I love love love breakfast foods. I just love them more when I have them for dinner.

Breakfast. And not just an American breakfast of bacon and eggs (though that's a favorite, too). Dim Sum, pho, huevos rancheros (not necessarily always authentic)....all of it. Things that are eaten first thing in the morning in pretty much any culture.

I love breakfast, but I don't eat traditional American type breakfast, I prefer regular food or Chinese and other asian type breakfasts.

While staying with family on a trip to Ecuador, I was served a bowl of tallarin de pollo. This is bascially a spaghetti dish prepared with stewed chicken in a red sauce. Although I'm not used to eating a meal like this typically at breakfast time, I did eat and enjoyed it enough to ask for seconds. And I though pancakes were filling!
