anyone know any good pastry/bakery/patisserie shops in the block between Warden and Bathurst, and 16th and Sheppard? so basically Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, and upper North York?

  1. Amadeus, on Bathurst between Steeles and Centre St., has wonderful pastries and cakes.

wow, the website looks totally different than the time when i went there. I didn't buy anything when I was there last time cause they had nothing left. All they had were halal prepared food in the freezer. I'll definitely give it another try, thanx, flavoursgal

oohlala, you must be thinking of a different patisserie. Amadeus is a European-style patisserie; I believe the owners may be Austrian. They do not carry prepared halal food, and I can't recall seeing freezers at all.

Their cake dubbed "Amadeus" (a hazelnut dacquoise) is fantastic, among others.

yah, I couldn't take my eyes off it the first time i walked in there. I bought 3 additional pastries, date tart (small but really good! not too sweet), apricot danish (average, the danish part wasn't puffy enough), and this chocolate dessert with praline that resembles a giant Hershey kiss. I couldn't taste the praline and the entire pastry was just too rich and dense in chocolate. I like chocolate, but i don't love it that much. The praline chocolate definitely is for sharing. I'll be back for my 2nd visit for sure~
