Where did you get said understanding? So far, seems like you know more than anyone...

The current Improper Bostonian reports that Coda is opening up in that space and that they have the old Tim's burger recipe - it will be on the menu. I dream of this burger - hope they don't mess it up.

I walked by this morning and it seems to be coming along really well, and it is already a lot brighter than the old Tim's space. Looks like they would be ready to open sometime this summer. I haven't heard anything else?

I walked by today and was able talk to one of the owners who saw me looking in. He said they hope to open Mon. or Tues. It looks really great inside, assuming you don't bum out over the loss of old man bars as I often do. The menu will be kind of basic American with a few curves he said. And the 10 oz burger will be served on a brioche bun, so not sounding so Tim's like.

Wandered into Coda last night....They did a pretty good job of making the room nice, although one of the people at the bar said it reminded them of a cruise ship? The staff was friendly and very attentive, no problems with the service at all. We ordered the asian-style fried calamari and the burger. The calamari was flavored well but somewhat soggy due to the breading, might be a better dish if it isn't breaded. We then split the burger, which held up to TIm's. I realize that this is almost blasphemous and will send some people over the edge but it was true. The burger was massive and very well cooked, not weel done. They offered a few cheeses to top it with and served it with a tasty bun and some good fries. The rest of the menu looked pretty good and seems worth trying again. It seemed like the owners were pretty friendly, although they paid no attention to us.....oh well. They also own the Common Ground in Allston. All in all worth a try for a good burger.

I'm curious about their beer selection. At Common Ground, they've done a great job replacing the same old taps with some more obscure brews (Arrogant Bastard, Maudite). Is it the same at Coda?

They do have some interesting beers along with the usuals. I would guess they have 7 beers on tap. I know they did have an Abita Purple Haze in a bottle and some interesting Hefenweizen (sp?). I think they are still experimenting because their wine list didn't seem set either. All in all a pretty decent spot.

This is nitpicky, but it drives me crazy when a restaurant refers to itself as "kitchen & bar." I find this more irritating than the once-ubiquitous "bar & grill."

Had dinner at Coda last night (Saturday) and was impressed. Tasty unpretentious bistro food at great prices in a comfortable space. And the service was great. I had the turkey/mushroom meatloaf, partner had boneless shortribs. The mashed potatoes tasted like potato, instead of the usual cream/butter/cheese which I've come to expect. Mussels appetizer was quite good, very fresh plump mussels (none were closed, or had that awful mushy consistency or off taste) flavored with fennel and pernod. Only gripe is they should serve them with a spoon in case you want to enjoy the broth. Small bowl of a variety of olives served with bread is a nice touch when you first sit down. I hope they keep it. And I hope they keep the very reasonable prices.
I'll definitely be back, and I'll try the burger.

It is open, walked by/peeped in on Saturday. Not too many folk in there as of yet.

Coda is now open. I went for the first time last Friday and really enjoyed the food and the space. I ordered the bleu burger and was happy and settled. Another had the ribs and loved them. We also ordered the crispy calamari which was surprisingly scrumptious.
I'd say the best part of the meal was the Orange mojito and the Malbec on the wine list. The atmosphere is cozy with a beautiful bar.
Only downside would be new service. I think they were down a server.
