Rec for a dinner party of 30-50 on the Penninsula?

We are looking for a great place anywhere from the Woodside area to around Burlingame-ish. Does anyone know of a place in that footprint that has a private room that could seat between 30 and 50 people? In terms of food, I love both casual (Front Porch type casual, where the food is still quality) and high end. Cuisine can be almost anything, but we are definitely not looking for a Chinese restaurant. Budget is also not an issue. That's about it, thanks.

  1. I work in Redwood Shores and we've used Mistral (Redwood Shores), Piacere (San Carlos) and Vivace (Belmont) for parties of that size. All have private rooms - although I think over 40 might be a tight fit in some of those places. Mistral is esp nice if the weather is good, you might be able to talk them into letting you have the outdoor patio with the beautiful fireplace, overlooking the lake.

    1. You might call the Parkside Grill in Portola Valley. They do have a private room which is used alot by the VC types for dinners, although I am not sure of capacity. The location sounds right for you, and I've found the food to be consistently good, especially the fish specials and the wood-fired pizzas. I don't believe they have a website, but here is a related set of reviews. The owner, Bill, is very friendly and I suspect would be very accommodating.

Select "peninsula" or "silicon valley" from the drop-down menu on the right.

Cetrella in HMB accommodates 60, and John Bentley's RWC can handle 52. Tamarine in Palo Alto says they can do 60.

You may also wish to pick a nice, smaller place and do a buy-out.
