Dinner before or after Phantom in Vegas?
My husband and I have tickets to see the Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian in Vegas. The show starts at 7pm and we'd like to go to Canaletto for dinner. Should we make reservations before or after the show? What time would you suggest? Thanks!

Unless something has changed, Phantom at the Venetian only runs a bit over 90 minutes.
I remember that we had made 9:30pm reservations at Delmonico and we were in the bar there well before 9. Of course Delmonico is pretty close to the Phantom theater but you shouldn't have any problems with a 9:30 reservation. -
First, enjoy Canaletto! We really had a very nice dinner there.
I'd suggest dinner afterwards. those 7pm showtimes are a problem.
We've tried having dinners before shows and always found ourselves having to rush through it, or missing out on desert. Canaletto is upstairs, in the shopping area of the Venetian. It will take you at least 10-15 minutes to get back downstairs to the theatre and of course, you want time to settle yourselves in. So, that means you'll need to be out of the restaurant by 6:30pm the latest to make the 7pm show. That means you're eating dinner around 5pm, that's pretty early, even for me and I like to eat early.
If the show runs about 2 hours or so, again, allow at least 1/2 hour to get back upstairs. So, either 9:30pm or 10pm. Check first to make sure they take reservations at 10pm. I don't remember if they do or not, but most likely, they do.

Personally, I had one of the best risottos I ever had there, and this comes from someone who thinks they make a perfect risotto at home :-) My husband had a very good steak done tuscan style. And I'll tell you, there was a gorgeous roasted chicken which went by our table to another diner which smelled so good we nearly followed behind the waiter and ditched our own meal! Canaletto doesn't get a lot mention here, but we really did enjoy it alot.
