Any Decent Beignets?

My wife is from Louisiana, and we've been here for 5 yrs and haven't heard/found any decent beignets in the area. Actually, I think we've only tried that place in Adams Morgan--and it was terrible. Barely edible. But, from another recent post on the restaurant it sounds like that place might be really hit or miss.

Has anyone found any decent beignets in the area?

(on a side note, we've tried the homemade donuts at the Colorado Kitchen and they were awesome!)

Oh I'm sure Acadiana has some sort of beignets on its menu.

And I have to agree that you might want to try New Orleans Cafe in Adams Morgan again. I live right down the street and when I need NOLA cuisine I stop in there. The coffee they serve is from Cafe Du Mond and the beignets, when fresh, are really good.

We haven't found anything around DC or Baltimore like Cafe du Mond or Cafe Beignet's beignets, so we make our own. They're very easy, whether you use Cafe du Mond's boxed mix or a scratch recipe, and you can eat as many as you want! 8;)

Go to DC Coast! on the menu is "Warm 'New Orleans' Style Beignets"

I'd try again in Adams Morgan on a Sunday morning for brunch- it's when they seem to be most on.

I'm not from Louisiana, so I don't have that comparison, but the ones at Louisiana Express in Bethesda are good.
