First and foremost, you should all get to the newly opened Pumpkin Market on South closer to 16th. The creators of Pumpkin, the restaurant, have brought you a lovely little take-out shop for the gourmand in your lives. They have a host of prepared dishes (examples included, last week - moroccan chicken, duck confit, braised short ribs, roasted cauli, roasted eggplant, white apspargus, homemade oxtail torchon, homemade country pate with killer bacon, fresh bread, adn they have various crafty and intriguing sandwiches and at least one soup daily - yesterday's was vegetarion curried lentil). They couldn't be nicer there and are eager to feel out the hood and see what customers want.

Secondly, I ventured to Pumpkin the restau for the first time on Tues. we had reservations and were seated in the center right on top of another table. Service was excellent - our server was a real professional. Started with seared scallops (2) on cauliflower purée with a squid ink sauce) and then I had the seared bronzino with fingerling potatoes with white asparagus and a salsa verde - an excellent dish! The weaker notes included the apple crisp which feature blah apples, not enough crunchy topping, and a nice whipped cream. Once we we done, the table next to us departed, and we felt a bit mor relaxed. We finished coffee and sipped wine - and had another 2 top seated in our laps (at 9:30 p.m.) when there were 5 or 6 other tables open. Sorta killed the end of the evening.

I am torn about how I feel about tiny BYOs packing people in. I guess its one thing if they want to maximize their turnover, especially on a weekend night, but it as a tuesday. and with an entree at $25, I want a little space. Then again, I guess my cramped feeling is someone else's coziness.

I'd go back. Nice people. nice place.

but i'll be back to the Market weekly.
