Any suggestions for interesting places to eat at or around Newark Airport?

Try Primabel in the Ironbound for authentic Portuguese food. This is where the locals go for traditional fare. Better prices too.

I've never heard of Primabel, so I Googled. I came up with Primabel Bar & Restaurant, on Hensler St. nj.com's dining guide says the food's American, i.e., steaks, burgers, and Continental. Guess that last is supposed to include Portuguese?

I second Fernandes. Even the bar menu is good.

There's a BBQ place on south 21, right after you get through central newark, that looks amazing, but my boyfriend won't stop for it..I think the name is Manny's...The dude is outside front of his BBQ most every day and something about an outdoor bbq makes my mouth water...It's probaby 2 miles before airport.

The Ironbound section of Newark has many Spanish and Portuguese restaurants. Casa Vasca, on the corner of Elm & Prospect Sts., is one of the best.

15 minutes away in Elizabeth is Spiritos, a throwback Italian resto that has served great old fashioned Italian dishes and pizza for a reeeeeeeal long time.
