  1. When I lived in the EV, I subsisted on delivery from Mama's (natch) and Il Bagatto. Loooved the smoked salmon sandwich and the fagolini appetizer from Il Bagatto.

    1. I live a block away and love Hummus Place, Chickpea, and Dumpling Man.

      1. You could try Zabb City (I assume they'd do takeout if not also delivery). And what do you think of Tarallucci e Vino? I like their panini and desserts. I doubt they deliver, but you can certainly do takeout.

My regular takeout/delivery places, for the record, are Grand Sichuan, Teresa's, Congee Village, and Taksim, with an occasional pollo a la brasa from Mancora and an occasional panino from Tarallucci e Vino. (I live a few blocks south of you.)

        1. Paul's delivers great burgers. They usually don't take too long.

Piada on Clinton and Houston will also deliver out. In the morning their Egg Piada can be very tasty.

Rush Hour will get a burger to you very quicly if its late at night on a weekend.

          1. Paquito's on 1st Ave. and 9th St. has really great burritos (the Acapulco with black beans is my personal favorite). In my opinion, they're the best in the city. We get takeout or delivery from there probably 3 times a month, sometimes more. They also have a restaurant next door with a great garden out back when the weather's nice.

            1. I love Caracas on 7th and 1st. They have great Arepas (south american sandwhiches really) and it's cheap and delicious. I'd suggest picking it up and bringing it home though, by the time delivery gets to you it's just not the same.

Good thought. The arepas are a little drippy, though, so it's really best to eat them in the restaurant, if possible.

                1. re: Pan

Agreed, if you can find a spot in this TINY, TINY place then it is probablly worth it to eat there and grab one of their milkshakes as well.

              2. I usually do franks for pasta and I like Friendhouse for chinese and sometimes their sushi rolls.

                1. Otafuku - Okonomiyaki & Yakisoba combo $6
Pio Maya - Roast Chicken w/ rice & beans or chorizo tacos

And if you're willing to walk, Sammy's Halal cart in front of the old Tower Records. Chicken & rice for $4. Does anyone know their hours? I walked by one Monday night around 7-8 and it wasn't there.

                  1. Elvie's Turo-Turo (1st and 13th)
                    Krystal's (1st and 10th)
                    Sunrise Mart (Stuyvesant and 9th)
Pommes Frites (2nd Ave and 9th?)
Ali Baba Falafel (St. Mark's and 2nd)

Pommes Frites is on 2nd Av. between 7th at St. Marks. For the record, I've never tried their fries (or anything else). I can't see having french fries as a meal.

                    2. The new coffee shop/bakery/take-out place on 4th ave and 12th street, Paradis, is paradise. I don't know if they deliver but everything I have had there (including scones, brownies, soups and meals) have been fantastic.

                      1. westville east is my new delivery place of choice. i've probably ordered from them 10 times in the last month. burgers, dogs, great homemade oreo cookies, and that corn!

                        1. Kanoyama takeout / delievery for great sushi and Japanese food!
