burgers/sandwiches union square
Going to Cinema Village tonight (12th and 5th ave) and looking for some delicious burgers/sandwiches beforehand. Suggestions?

I was dissapointed by my stand burger, though I did like the fries and the drink list looked pretty good. I would go back to try it again. People rave about the milkshakes. Other places in the area that you can get a burger or a sandwich, Marquette is right accross the street from the theater and is a very sweet homey restaurant. I also recomend the bar resavior on University. The food is definately above average for bar food. The burgers, wings and tater skins are all very good and they have all night beer specials.

re: Regina_George
Went there a couple weeks ago. My burger was cooked slightly above what I asked for, but was otherwise a huge slab of meat on a bun, and I mean that in a good way. My sweet potato fries were ok, a bit too mushy. Regular fries, on the other hand, were nearly perfect. Medium-sized cut, lots of skin, crunchy and seasoned well. And yes, the atmosphere is fun, though cramped.

Just went to Stand last night and it is as good as everyone on the board is raving about. It's right next door to Cinema Village and is definitely a full service restaurant (great beers on tap selection from lesser known breweries) though with some communalish tables -- like at Republic.
If you haven't been, Stand is the place to try in Union Square.

My favorite burger is at Old Town Bar, on 18th between Broadway and Park Avenue. For a closer option, I have heard that there is a new burger joint called Stand on 12th street, between Broadway and University. But Stand is more of a take-out joint, from what I understand. Haven't been, tho.
Jack's Bistro is also on 11th street and University, also serves burgers as well, if you want another option.
