    Hi trishottawa,

Are you in NYC already? In soho, there is a new restaurant called Caffe Falai on Lafayette street. I haven't been to this branch as it is new, but other restaurants by Falai are quite delicious. They have some salads that are not that boring, so it may fits your criteria.

I don't know about the wine list though (may be BYOB?). You may need to look at the menu outside the restaurant to check out

I won't be there until mid april. Caffe Falai was on my list.

I had a late lunch tody at Caffe Falai and it was wonderful. I had the tomato soup and a panino with spicy salami, cheese and onion confit, followed by a delicious cappuccino. I ogled the pastry case for a while, thinking of purchasing some to eat on the airplane tomorrow, but decided not to. I might have to go back though!

Cafe Noir has very good and reasonable lunch specials, salads have a french twist. It's a very cute space, too. Went to a birthday party there once - I remember the dinner entrees and tapas all being very tasty.
