Santa Barbara on the cheap - SAKURA

SAKURA in Paseo Nuevo Mall on State Street, Santa Barbara has really great plate specials. For $8.95 - Plate "A" is a yummy, fresh combo of miso soup, teriyaki chicken, rice gyoza,dipping sauce and tempura vegetables. Tiny little place with small sushi bar and a few indoor and outdoor tables. What a find. This is eating, not dining. But you won't be disappointed at even a higher price for Japanese food in this town.

Let me re-recommend this little gem Sakura in Santa Barbaras' State Street mall Paseo Nuevo - had Plate B tonight - a nice, fresh, well-priced delight.

Back for a second visit to see if I had the same experience and it remains a very good choice - fresh, tasty, quick and good. I don't know how they do it, but this is a Santa Barbara secret that deserves success. Happy dining.

Joe's Cafe has dinners from $10 to $20. It's ol' fashioned American food, but good and cheap. And I hear they pour the stiffest drink in town. Paradise Cafe isn't inexpensive, but their burger is reasonable and makes a fabulous meal.
