any more info on Greens?
I have a friend in from out of town, and was thinking we'd go to Greens tonight. Checked the boards, and was dismayed to see that the last entry, pretty recent, was very negative. I haven't been there in two years, and was sooo looking forward to going back. Any consensus out there from fellow chowhounders? Has Greens really plunged to a state of mediocrity? Or was that a blip?

I was one who recently had given it a rant raving but on Saturday, before a French Wine tasting at Fort Mason, I walked in and just ordered from the counter. As it was a beautiful day, sitting outside and noshing with the sea breeze in my face was quite enjoyable. The to-go food was surprisingly good and would make me reconsider another go to see if the sit-down has improved.

Thanks, Robert and Carrie. Well, I ended up going there, and it really was quite good. We're not talking high gourmet anymore, I'll readily admit,, but the food was tasty and, I thought, not unreasonable, The service excellent, and there is no more pleasant place to have a good meal in good company--especially just around sunset! The highlight was the risotto cake, which was especially flavorful, and the pavlova for dessert.
