Go to Stanton Social if you can get in. We had the best time there for my bday, such good food and atmosphere. I live on UWS and am not agesist but, while I havent been to Compass in a while and recently heard good things about it, I have no interest, it never materialized as a fun place IMO.

We did Kittichai for about $70 pp (there were 6 of us).
      Stanton Social
Sapa - always a fave spot of mine
Spice Market - we did that for about $70 pp (three girls and 2 bottles of wine)

three girls and 2 bottles of wine for $70?

that's quite a deal, and quite a birthday!

        :)

seriously though, i had a birthday party with 50 or 60 guests at Mo Pitkin's last year in their upstairs party room. it wasn't sit-down, but we had food and drinks aplenty and everyone had a great time.

Compass. It's not downtown though, like at 72nd and Broadway. They have space and nooks/rooms for large parties, the atmosphere is really cool (very sophisticated decor), and the price range is exactly what you're looking for. It's got cool cocktails too- the chef even had fun creating a custom beet martini for our party (we were 14 people, median age 28). http://www.compassrestaurant.com/

Compass is one of our favorites when we attend a Lincoln Center performance. It's on 70th, b/t Amsterdam & West End Avs. Since Keepitfresh has not given us a per person budget, it's difficult to say if prices at Compass would be a good fit. I consider the a la carte menu to be pricey although there is a 3-course dinner prix-fixe for $35. Also, I've never seen lots of 20-somethings dining there. When we've been there, the clientele seemed to be mainly 40's and older. Of course, that's been pre-theater, so maybe the younger folks show up later...? In any event, the food is delicious, and I agree with you about the decor.

          Need more info.

          How many people?
How much per person all in?
          Any preference in cuisine?
If you don't mind me asking....how old? Would like to recommend a restaurant that suits your age.

27 Years Old; about 50-65 per person; around 8 or so people; open to any cuisine.
