Tried this place on a recommendation from a friend. Service and food were so lousy it was laughable. How do they get away with it?
I thought I was the only one who felt that way about Il Cantinori.
I went twice, and both my dining companion and I found the food to be
very plain and uneventful....as was the service.
Ditto...i went there a few years ago, despite a warning from my best friend about nasty service...i should have listened to him...
Service (including the hostess) was rude and arrogant...food ranged from overpriced-average to inedible...i was served one of the worst fish entrees i've ever had in an expensive restaurant...someone else at the table couldn't believe it exactly *was* fish when they looked at it...atrocious place...
if you do a search here you'll find many service horror stories...
I was at Il Cantinori a week ago, and I was completely shocked by the lack of quality in the food. Couldn't agree with you more.
was there last week on a Tuesday night, we walked in with no reservation late in the evening.. they couldn't have been more welcoming to our table of four even though Richard Gere was sitting two tables over.. it was late and we ate rather lightly - the ladies split a salad and another appetizer, i had the scampi and my friend had a half order of pasta and a braised meat dish.. they also sent over some room temperature vegetables from the antipasto table which were very good.. while i didn't love the preparation of the scampi in tomato sauce, all else was pretty good. We were the last table in the place and they couldn't have been nicer or the service better even when we lingered long after everyone else had left..
I"ve heard a lot of these really negative stories, so I'm sure that they're true, but Il cantinori has always been one of my absolute favorites. I always love the food there. I guess its up and down.
