Time Out's "EatOut" Awards--Jade

This place is nominated for "Best New Queens Restaurant" but Danny Brown isn't? How annoying. Clearly no one from Time Out knows anything about the (admittedly pathetic) scene in Forest Hills.

That's ridiculous. We don't need that kind of misleading press for a restaurant scene that is already underwhelming.

I think the magazine has to have reviewed it before they add it to any lists. If Danny Borwn wasn't reviewed, then it won't get on the list. But I'll be honest, I'm glad Jade's on the list. It may not be as good, but it's definitely not bad. Better than a lot of Manhattan places. And better it than no FH restaurants at all. If Jade fails then I highly doubt that the space will be re-leased to something as financially iffy as a restaurant unless it's a chain. So the Chowhound badmouthing may result in a Chili's.

Given a few of FH's current options and what seems to be the majority sentiment in the area - a Chili's wouldn't surprise me in the least. Think about it - it's already a neighborhood that boasts a TGIF, Sante Fe Grill and UNO's Pizza.

Actually, and I just found this out last week, a Chili's is at Atlas Park. Not FH, but close enough.

Time Out did review DB in this week's issue and gave it a good review, so perhaps it will qualify for next year's awards.
