Any bakeries that make a good ice cream cake?

Looking out of the Carvel, Cold Stone, Baskin Robbins region...

Thanks!!

rhnault, I am glad she had a better experience. I'd have to see if I could find a picture of it, because not only was the cake ugly -not just the stuff they did to it, but the frosting and decoration too-it didn't taste very good and it was dry. LOL, then again if I found a picture of it, I may not be able to post it in a public forum! It is entertaining now, but I'll never forget how mortified we were when they opened the van doors and we saw that cake. AAHHH.

andlulu-Oh you are welcome. I loved them. A few people who went to my birthday party used them and loved Kim too.

A little off thread topic, sorry. About my boyfriend's cake...We asked for something funny and we decided on a stripper pole with a girl made out of candy. The parts of the male/female anatomy were LIFE SIZE that they took it upon themselves to make! We had to go out and buy frosting because we had to remove these chocolate creations from the cake before it was presented. We had also had a funny saying we had figured out to put on the cake (this was me and one of his staffmembers.) They actually wrote the "F" word on the cake. So while we wanted to make it funny, they were just way over the top and took license we didn't give them to take. And they were pretty expensive. So not worth the price. When Kim at Chocolate π told me how much she'd charge me for my cake (each layer a different flavor) I about fell out of my chair because it was so reasonable! I've attached the picture I sent her of the cake I wanted and then the one she made for me. I asked her to do the 30 and the fish on top -it went with the theme of my party. I also told her not to make it look "so serious" - if that makes sense. =) I think she did a GREAT job. (The cake wasn't lopsided, it was the camera work LOL.)

I didn't know they did "dirty" cakes there. They did the cake for my friend's daughters christening dinner and it was great. But I would have been really really angry if I were you about the liberties they took with your cake. Though you do sound like it's a bit entertaining a few years later ; )
The only raunchy cakes I have seen in town were from Olympia Bakery and they were hysterical though a bit gross lol

I don't know if she does ice-cream cakes, but try talking to Kim at Chocolate π (It's the pi symbol, not the word "Pie") in South Tampa on MacDill. She did my cake for my 30th birthday and it was amazing. I've written it before and I'll write it again-it's almost a year later and people still talk about that cake (plus it was beautiful!) I will tell you to stay away from Let Them Eat Cake on West Shore. So called great cake makers. They did a completely awful job on my boyfriend's 40th birthday cake. Also made it inappropriate for the party (pasting parts of the female and male anatomy onto the cake made out of skin colored chocolate when his entire staff was attending the party along with vendors, etc.) They didn't follow the sketches or do what we asked. It looked awful. Plus it wasn't even that good (kind of dry.) Delivered it way before we asked them to too. Almost two years later, we're still trying to forget it! UGH.

Wow - sorry about the mishap with the boyfriend's cake - it's funny you mention chocolate pi - thinking about having my wedding cake done there - glad to hear a rave review! =)

                Thanks!
